Grand Prize - Fine Art. For the theme of growth, I decided to showcase my personal development through the medium of art. At the top, I have included a drawing I created as a child. As you progress downwards, you will see the subsequent frames exhibit increased artistic ability and proficiency, representing my journey and progress in the field of art. Amidst the quarantine period, I found myself with an opportunity to refine my artistic skills and broaden my creative horizons. The abundance of time allowed me to explore new techniques, experiment with different mediums, and ultimately expand my artistic capabilities.

Category Winner - Photography: Growth is when something new is coming, making me think of Spring and flowers. Similar to how in Spring, flowers are beginning to grow again marking the season to come, growth marks how something new in a person is coming about. Both inspire hope in me; that better things are yet to come.

Grand Prize & Category Winner - Music: Growth, to me, consists of 2 things: cause and effect. It matters not whether I am confronted with success, difficulty, or tragedy. When facing what has happened, it is not only my agency, but also my own responsibility to manage my life moving forward. Growth, to me, is the ability to reflect. My life will not always be good, and not always be bad. I must push myself to be more no matter the situation I am in. My song, Rain, dives into the fact that my life isn't perfect. After all, nothing can grow without a little rain.

I am a caterpillar.

Small and frail,

feeling as if there is nothing beautiful or interesting about me.

I am plain and simple.

I am afraid to leave the safe home that is my cocoon.

The outside world is nothing but danger.

Nothing but predators.

Predators out to get pathetic prey like me.

As I sit in my cocoon,

the only world i have ever really known to love,

the bottom slips.

Every feeling,

pain, sadness, fear,

it all flashes before me.

More vivid than I have ever felt.

Then, all of a sudden,

I fly.

I look to see I have grown wings.

Beautiful, vibrant wings.

My feelings of inferiority still remained,

but my wings remind me of my strength.

I now fly around the world, soaking in its beauty.

I am a butterfly.

Big and powerful.

I now not only fly.

I soar.

Category Winner - Poetry: Growth to me means becoming more confident in yourself and your ability to improve, whether it’s physical, mental, or emotional health. Growth may give you more strength to overcome challenges you have faced before. While these feelings of defeat or difficult challenges may not go away, growth makes things a little easier than they were in the past.
