Healing a Divided Country
Digital Arts Category Winner
Healing a divided country is based on love regardless of physical attributes, forgiveness after a time of pain and acceptance of our differences. I painted, digitally and also with watercolor, three souls representing the acceptance of the diverse beauty throughout our country. My artwork is in solidarity to bring them a voice, and add to more equal representation and acceptance in our country.
We Rise By Lifting Others
Photography Category Winner
I used chiaroscuro photography with a spin adding the mirrors reflection to help spread positivity during these difficult times. The bottom of the mirror says “we rise by lifting others” just a reminder that kindness will always accomplish more than hate. And that people always listen to kindness. It not only helps other, but it makes you feel good about yourself as well.
Hands Up, Don't Shoot
Taken during a Black Lives Matter march in June 2020, this photo brings back the rage and helplessness I felt that week at the injustice of the world. I can feel my voice, hoarse from screaming “No Justice, No Peace,” “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot,” and others. These protests did not solve the problems of systemic racism in our society, in fact they did not even achieve justice for Breonna Taylor, but the movement is not over and it has already brought so many people together in hopes of healing our divided country and making it truly equal for all.
